About Dr. Joshua Schachterle

Joshua Schachterle completed his PhD in New Testament and Early Christianity in 2019 from the University of Denver/Ilif School of Theology. His new book, John Cassian and the Creation of Monastic Subjectivity, was just released this summer. He writes regular articles on the New Testament and Early Christianity for Bart Ehrman’s website. He has taught classes in the letters of Paul, the Gospels, and the history of Christian monasticism. His long-term goal is to find new and interesting ways to bring the findings of historical and Biblical scholarship to lay readers.
